Youth Services
The goal of the WIA Youth Program is to better prepare young adults, ages 14-21, for education and employment by coordinating funds and services in the community. WIA service providers provide youth services through the JobLink Career Centers in their respective counties.
Eligible youth must meet income guidelines, be between the ages of 14-21 and have at least one of the following specified barriers to employment or education. Barriers include youth who are a school dropout; have reading and/or math scores below the 9th grade level; homeless, runaway or foster child; offender; pregnant or parenting.
Youth Council Members
The Youth Council is a subset of the Workforce Development Board that assists with local planning for Youth Services for the Mid-Carolina region. Youth Council members include representatives from local youth service agencies, businesses, and the community who have an interest in youth policy. Their role is to oversee and coordinate employment opportunities and training programs for youth in Chatham, Harnett, Lee and Sampson Counties.
